Rubbish Removal Surrey Modern Slavery Statement
Rubbish Removal Surrey is committed to operating ethically, transparently and with integrity in all our business dealings. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to identify, prevent and address the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. It applies to all staff, contractors, and suppliers working with or on behalf of our business.
Our Zero-Tolerance Commitment
We have a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals. We will not knowingly engage with any organisation or individual involved in such practices. Our management team is responsible for promoting and enforcing this stance across all areas of the company, ensuring it is reflected in our policies, decisions and day-to-day conduct.
All employees, whether permanent, temporary or agency, are treated fairly, paid at least the applicable minimum wage, and work under voluntary, safe and legal conditions. We expect the same standards from our suppliers and partners, and we will end relationships with any party that fails to uphold these core principles.
Supply Chain Standards and Supplier Audits
Our services rely on a network of suppliers, including waste transfer stations, recycling partners, vehicle and equipment providers, and labour agencies. We recognise that modern slavery risks can arise at any stage of this chain, particularly where subcontracting or low-skilled labour is involved.
To address these risks, we clearly communicate our zero-tolerance policy to all new suppliers and reinforce it during ongoing business relationships. We expect suppliers to maintain robust labour, health and safety, and ethical trading standards. As part of our due diligence, we assess suppliers based on their location, sector and reliance on subcontracted or migrant labour to identify higher-risk areas.
Where we identify higher risk, we may carry out audits or request evidence demonstrating compliance with labour laws and ethical standards. This can include copies of employment policies, payroll practices, right-to-work checks and health and safety procedures. If an audit or review highlights concerns, we work with the supplier on corrective actions. Where serious breaches are found, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
We are committed to fostering an open culture where concerns about modern slavery, exploitation or unethical conduct can be raised without fear of retaliation. All employees, agency workers, contractors and suppliers are encouraged to report any suspicions or evidence of modern slavery connected to our business or supply chain.
Concerns may be raised directly with a line manager, a senior manager or the company owner. Reports can be made verbally or in writing. Any report will be treated seriously, handled as confidentially as possible, and investigated promptly. We will take appropriate action in response to any substantiated concerns, which may include notifying the relevant authorities and discontinuing relationships with implicated suppliers or individuals.
Retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith is strictly prohibited. Disciplinary action may be taken against any person who victimises a whistleblower or attempts to obstruct an investigation.
Training, Awareness and Continuous Improvement
We provide appropriate information and guidance to employees, particularly those involved in procurement, contract management and site operations, to help them recognise the signs of modern slavery and understand how to respond to potential risks. We aim to reinforce awareness through induction and ongoing communication, ensuring our people know that modern slavery is unacceptable and know how to report concerns.
We are committed to continuous improvement and recognise that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility, not a one-off exercise. We review our internal processes, supplier engagement and risk assessments to strengthen our controls over time.
Annual Review and Statement Approval
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually to ensure it remains accurate, effective and reflective of our current operations and risk profile. As part of this review, we consider any incidents, concerns raised, audit findings and changes in legislation or best practice. Where necessary, we update our policies, procedures and training.
The latest version of this statement is approved by the senior management of Rubbish Removal Surrey and applies for the current financial year. By publishing this statement, we reaffirm our commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
